8 Varieties of Greek Honey

Greece has the highest density of bees in all of Europe and produces 12,000 tons of Honey every year. Greek Honey is richer in aromatic substances, compared to those produced in other countries. Greek Honey has less moisture, which means that they are denser and richer in taste.

Vanilla Fir Honey. Vanilla Fir Honey, a product unique in the world from the rarest category of honey, is produced from the resin in the trunk of the black fir. Known for its low sugar content, it never crystallizes and has a special texture and color. Its extraction is very difficult and expensive because it requires the destruction of honeycombs. The honeycomb looks like liquid drops or a solid white mass (vanilla). Its production lasts from mid-May until mid-July.

Chestnut Honey. In addition to its nutritious fruits, Kastania (Chestnut tree) gives a special and very invigorating honey.
Chestnut Honey has an amber dark color, with a strong and nice smell. It is considered to contribute to good blood circulation and has healing properties

Oak honey. Βελανιδιά (Oak tree) gives a very dark honey, almost black. It fascinates those who like intense flavors and is one of the richest honey. In terms of antioxidant activity, Oak Honey comes first with the greatest antioxidant activity, leaving behind the much-advertised Manuka honey from New Zealand.

Autumn Heather Honey. The Autumn Heather (Ερείκη or Ξούρα or Σουσούρα) due to the abundance of its flowers gives fragrant honey, dark colored (deep green). This honey has a slightly bitter taste. Contains silicon, boron and barium.

Acacia Honey. Our Acacia honey color ranges from almost colorless to straw yellow. It has a very light-delicate neutral flavor and sweet aroma of acacia blossom. Rarely crystallizes.

Blooming Tilia Honey. Tilia produces a coveted honey, with a light amber color and a very characteristic aroma. It is rich in potassium, calcium and magnesium.

Arbutus Honey. Arbutus (Κουμαριά) honey, has a peculiar bitter-sweet taste and crystallizes quickly. Contains the natural substance Arbutin, which cleanses the blood and regulates cholesterol levels. It has a low sugar content and is good for diabetics.
Due to the coumarin it contains, it acts as a blood anticoagulant and helps with blood clots.

Cotton Honey. Our Greek Cotton honey, is a light colored honey that turns white after crystallization (done in 1-3 months). It has the highest bactericidal action, as it is the richest honey in hydrogen peroxide. Also suitable for mixing with royal jelly, beauty creams and cosmetics.
